This is the fourth post on God’s (false?) prophets. Here are links to the first and most recent posts.
This is the week I’ve been waiting for! Within three days, it ought to be clear if the very numerous self-proclaimed prophets of God were correct about their consensus declaration that President Trump would be re-elected for a second term in the 2020 election. While you might think that the completed Congressional electoral vote count on January 6th finalized the 2020 Presidential election result, the inauguration of the next president has not yet occurred. As the prophets have repeatedly declared, God always shows up on time, and the time is drawing near!
It seems that a number of the prophets and their faithful followers are looking to January 18th (today) for God to appear and turn the election in favor of President Trump, based on a prophetic word given by Apostle Chuck Pierce of Glory of Zion International Ministries on November 1, 2020. Here is a video of this prophesy
I indicated in my last post that a couple of prophets have already apologized for incorrectly declaring President Trump winning the 2020 election. They continue to receive tremendous amounts of hate mail concerning their apologies. One “lesser” prophet, Marcus Rogers, has recently retracted his apology, and another one I only recently discovered, Chris Yoon, is imploring for delayed judgment on the prophets until after the inauguration.
Two prophets, Hank Kunneman and Dutch Sheets seem to be positioning themselves for success after President-elect Biden’s inauguration. Hank Kunneman has several times declared that God does not operate according to established dates, and man’s timeline, suggesting that the inauguration of President Biden does not indicate the declared prophesies about President Trump are incorrect, and that eventually information with come to light resulting in the removal of President Biden and the installation of President Trump. He’s extended God’s timeline through March 2021, declaring it the “March of Victory”. Dutch Sheets has indicated in two recent video posts, that “if I’m wrong”…which has caused some of his faithful followers to exhort him towards greater faith. Dutch Sheets’ most recent messages say much less about President Trump, and seem to be focused on keeping his followers faithful to his personal commitment to American Christian Nationalism. Here are two recent articles expressing concern about American Christian Nationalism, in The Atlantic and in Christianity Today.
Finally, Hank Kunneman and other prophets have declared a shaking of the nation by God, and some are attributing the mysterious and apparently unexplained shaking felt in southern Florida this past weekend, as evidence of this supernatural shaking.
How will this all turn out? Stay tuned…click here for the next post.
I don’t really follow people, because I’m a Christian. But there are a few people I occasionally go out of my way to learn more about what they are saying. One such person is Professor of Science and Religion, Denis Lamoureux. I met Denis at a conference of Christian biologists held at Gordon College over 20 years ago, shortly after I started my long and exciting journey down the deep rabbit hole of the creation/evolution debate (an academic hobby I immersed myself in for about a ten years, and one of only a few topics I might be able to claim true expertise in). I’ve maintained a professional friendship with Denis, and know that he is a genuine and sincere Christian, and among the best thinkers I personally know. Now, when I say that I look to Denis to learn about his thoughts and ideas on the integration of faith and science, it doesn’t mean that I necessarily accept everything Denis is proposing. But I do consider him to be a person worth listening to. ...
A lot of people have a difficult time reading me – am I being serious? Am I being sarcastic? Am I trying to be funny? There’s always a serious point to be made, and there’s different ways to make that point. Some people think I’m trying to be funny; others don’t. Some people think I’m being serious; others don’t. Some people think I’m being sarcastic; others don’t. For some reason, I usually leave this unclear, perhaps to reflect the uncertainty inherent in reality. Some people really don’t like that.
I feel like I’m watching an ongoing rerun of the story of Adam and Eve, and the Fall of Man. I have this image in my head that there are many seemingly important issues calling out for our attention and devotion, which are not from God, and are not part of God’s will for those who claim to be in relationship with God. I see many people fully engaged in these issues, even Christians. We all have a choice what to focus our attention on. It doesn’t feel to me that these issues actually warrant the attention, time, and resources of the Christian community. The message of the story of Adam and Eve is how humankind, initially in relationship with their Creator, turns away from God and towards other things which are not meant to have our attention; things that were not intended for our consumption - things that ultimately lead to humankind's separation from God. (Public domain) Is not the story of Adam and Eve the story of all of us? Who can say they haven’...
