ADVENTURES IN OPPORTUNISTIC PROFITEERING: Why conceding doesn’t make sense

It makes perfectly good sense for President Trump to NOT concede the election.  How would it profit him to do so?  It is clear to see that in order for President Trump to maximize profits, the best course of action is to continue to contest the election.  This is the correct course of action for him to take.  I’m not saying this is the best course of action for the country, but it is the best course of action for President Trump.

I’m sure everyone can agree that President Trump's number one priority is himself.  This is abundantly clear from his many words and deeds over the past several years.  This is not to say he doesn’t hold other priorities, some of which may serve to benefit the country.  His top priorities are his image, his ego, and his wealth.  Within this context, how does it make sense for him to concede the election?  It doesn’t.

How is he profiteering from refusing to concede?  His new PAC, Save America, is bringing in tens of millions of dollars.  I’ll post the numbers once they are reported to the FEC.  Conceding is not a good fundraising strategy, but maintaining oneself as a victim of crime is a great fundraising strategy.  President Trump’s supporters have been carefully prepared and conditioned for this moment of opportunistic profiteering.  It’s no secret that President Trump has been asserting election fraud since before the 2016 election.

This is simply a continuation of Mr. Trump’s longer term opportunistic profiteering strategy.  Some have opined that Mr. Trump really didn’t anticipate winning the 2016 election, but rather, his participation in the election provided him a new avenue of profit.  Winning the 2016 election has proven Mr. Trump as a very adaptable profiteer.  Win or lose (in 2016), he would come out ahead financially.  Just like in 2016, the 2020 election presented a win-win situation for Mr. Trump.  While losing the 2020 election is a blow to his ego, his number one priority of making money is still intact.  He’s simply making the best of the election loss by focusing on maximizing his profits.  The way to do that is to prolong the controversy, refuse to concede, and maintain the impression of election fraud while fishing for financial contributions.  It all makes perfect sense.  As the proverb says, when life hands you lemons...
